Spain weather

Spain's weather is its biggest selling point. Its south, east and central regions experience hot summers, with average temperatures in the late 20s and early 30s. If you've already started build up a sweat reading this you can always escape to the north, which sees the Atlantic Ocean keep temperatures lower. The winter climate in Spain is generally mild; although in the central plains like Madrid average temperatures can drop quite low, so wrap up warm. And if you are still in doubt as to the best time to go then head to the Canary Islands where you can be assured of summer weather all year round.

Tips

. . . .
1/4

Spain was ruled by the Moors for over 800 years and has some of Europe's best Islamic sites. Check out the awe-inspiring Alhambra fortress in the mountains of Granada for the most stunning architecture in Spain.

2/4

Tenerife has the world's second biggest carnival after Rio. This is one of the most glamorous events in Europe, and because it's in Tenerife you can be assured of great weather.

3/4

For the most unusual buildings you'll see in Europe head to Barcelona and witness first hand the fairytale architecture of Anton Gaudi.

4/4

Make sure you sample Spain's cuisine known as tapas. These small bites come in all shapes and sizes and are available for free when you buy a drink in the local bars.
