As the capital of the Costa del Sol, Malaga's attractions are many and cater for all tastes. From sightseeing for history buffs, to tourist attractions for troublesome teens, you'll find what you're after in Malaga. La Alcazaba

La Alcazaba

No it's not the word to accompany a spell, but it is one of Spain's most important Moorish remains. Back in its heyday this 11th century fortress boasted three palaces and over 100 towers. It still impresses today and gives some amazing views over the city.

Picasso Museum

Picasso Museum

Any trip to the Spanish painter's hometown wouldn't be complete without a visit to this popular museum. Check out some old classics, plus an array of ceramics and sketches by the master. Free on the last Sunday of every month.

Malaga Cathedral

Malaga Cathedral

It took them a whopping 200 years to build, but it was worth it in the end. Enjoy the Renaissance and Baroque styles of this richly decorated cathedral built to celebrate the Spanish defeat of the Moors. One of Malaga's great sights.

Plaza Merced

If you fancy shaking your thing then head down to the old city centre around Plaza Merced where the busiest of the bars and clubs are. Don't hit the town too early though, before 10pm you'll find youself drinking alone

Semana Santa

Semana Santa

This festival during the week of Easter is one of the biggest in Spain and sees thousands of visitors from all over the world descend on the city. Even if you're not religious it's worth a visit to soak up the atmosphere and marvel at the street processions.

Tivoli World

Tivoli World

One for the kids now. This theme park is action-packed full of rides, restaurants and daily shows ranging from flamenco dancing to kids' ballet. Enough to keep both young and old entertained. Located between Fuengirola and Torremolinos along the A-7.

Torremolinos

Torremolinos

Head 16km south west of Malaga and you'll come across the busy resort of Torremolinos. Here you'll find sandy beaches by the bucket load, waterparks, restaurants and every other kind of tourist attraction you can think of.

If you are travelling to Malaga you have to try its famous 'pescaito frito' or small fried fish. Head down to the old fisherman's village of El Palo to the east of the city where you'll get the freshest catch of the day.

One of the best ways to see Malaga and get your bearings is to take one of the city's official tour buses. There are 12 stops starting from the main bus station and the trip lasts around an hour and a half.
