Tourist attractions in Toulouse come in all shapes and sizes, but its religious buildings and colourful architecture are some of its most famous features. In contrast, you also have the city’s more modern spaces combined with its aeronautical background, which provide some high-tech attractions.

Basilque

Basilique St. Sernin

The biggest Romanesque building in Western Europe, this was once a major stopping point for pilgrims. With its crypt and religious relics, this grand building is a must-see on any visit to Toulouse.

This huge museum-cum-exhibition space is home to a remarkable planetarium, IMAX cinema and all sorts of space and technology related installations. You’ll also find life-sized spaceships and an exact replica of the Mir space station. Dragging the kids away might be a problem.

Musee La Bit

Musée Labit

This museum houses a wonderful collection of all things weird, wonderful, exotic and interesting. Built around the collection of 19th century explorer Georges Labit, you’ll find everything from samurai masks to Egyptian mummies.

La Prairie de

La Prairie des Filtres

One of Toulouse’s most popular parks, this riverside meadow is the perfect place to have a picnic or a stroll on a sunny afternoon. Come in the summer and you’re bound to find some kind of festival or activity taking place.

St Pierre

St Pierre Place

This is a great place to kick off your evening if you’re in partying mode. It’s a large central square full of cafes and bars, and is kept particularly lively by the city’s student population.

Old Quarter

Old Quarter

Full of historic buildings, winding lanes, narrow streets and places of interest, Toulouse’s old quarter is the best place to explore to get a taste of the city’s hustle and bustle. Head to the centre on market days to find all sorts of treats and treasures.

Visit the Niaux Cave to the south west of Toulouse to see some of the oldest cave paintings in the world. The prehistoric artwork here dates back to an incredible 11,000 BC.
