Biarritz weather

Biarritz’s weather is quite a delight. Winters are the warmest of any French city, while average temperatures in summer peak at around 25 degrees, so it’s hot, but not oppressively so. Add to that the cool Atlantic breeze and it becomes clear why Biarritz is so popular. The best time to go is undoubtedly summer, as Biarritz’s beaches make it the perfect place for a bit of fun in the sun. It does get crowded, however, so if you’re looking to avoid the crowds then come during the winter months. You’ll find fewer people and temperatures that are still more than pleasant.

Tips

. . .
1/3

Head across the Spanish border to San Sebastian and see a different side of the Basque Country. This picturesque city is renowned for its cuisine and has more Michelin-starred restaurants per head than any other city.

2/3

For some peace and quiet, head to Plage Miramar the most northerly of Biarritz’s beaches. In addition to some pretty fantastic sand, you’ll find the beach flanked by beautiful gardens and a promenade full of cafes and restaurants.

3/3

Check out the place that started it all. The Hotel du Palais was originally built as a summer retreat for the Empress Eugéne. Today it is a period-style five star hotel with the best beachfront location in Biarritz. Pop in for a coffee if nothing else!
