Brussels weather

The weather in Belgium isn’t too dissimilar from the climate in Britain, it can get wet and cold suddenly, and Brussels is no exception. To make the best of the fickle Belgian weather, come in the summer months from May-September. This way you’ll also get the best of the various summer celebrations that take place in the city in addition to favourable weather forecasts. You will of course find that all the other visitors to Brussels consider this the best time to go, so if you want to see the city in a calmer light, braving the winter weather might be the way to go. There are plenty of warm cafes and eateries in which you can while away the cosy winter evenings.

Brussels festivals and events

April:  The Brussels International Festival of Fantasy Film is the city’s most famous film festival, and attracts hordes of people each year to check out Belgian and international movies.

August:  The city’s buildings and squares turn into concert halls when the Summer Festival takes over. Expect stand up comedians, street performers and a range of music concerts from reggae to folk.

September:  If you like your beer then head down to Brussels for the annual Beer Weekend. Tents spring up across the Grand Place with more than 50 breweries presenting the best of their brews for sampling.

Tips

. . .
1/3

Surrounded on all sides by delightful forests and parks, if you’re looking somewhere to walk and enjoy the scenery you’ll be spoilt for choice. Relax by the lake in the Bois de la Cambre, then head off into the Sonian Forest from there.

2/3

One of the highlights of Brussels’ tourism is the Museum of Musical Instruments. Housing over 6000 pieces, the museum building itself is an incredible example of Art Nouveau architecture. Don’t miss the incredible views from the roof terrace!

3/3

Although on the whole a very safe city, Brussels is frequented from time to time by pickpockets. Just make sure you have your money stored safely in your front trouser pockets, or in another safe place.
